Blood Bank

The Emergency Animal Hospital of Ellicott City is now an authorized distributor for the Eastern Veterinary Blood Bank. The EVBB will keep the Emergency Animal Hospital stocked with blood from volunteer canines. The volunteer donors have been screened for good health as well as tested for Heartworms and other blood borne diseases.

Should your dog have an illness or injury causing severe anemia, your veterinarian may pick up type-specific Packed Red Blood Cells for emergency administration. Because we are open only at night, we have partnered with Countryside Veterinary Clinic to provide blood products during the daytime.

Because of our partnership with EVBB, we will always have appropriate blood products available for our patients as well.
